I think young people should support themselves financially,as long as they are capable of earning decent money.
Young people should learn to keep ends meet.If they could become independent financially,to some extent,they will have the power to control their own lives.As far as I'm concerned,the difference between teenager and young adult is the responsibility for one's behaviour.And the independence including other aspect of lives will make one become more mature which is good for his career and life style choices.
Moreover,the power of independence could stimulate someone to achieve something bigger.Let's assume you have the control of your own money.You don't need others approve to do anything.Once you caught some great opportunity,you can have it for your own instead share money with others.Also,you could do anything as you wish.It's like a formal announcement of grown up.
Otherwise,becoming independent financially will help one's parents take the edge off.As we grown up,parents should have more time and money for themselves.They took care of us for so long,we should repay them as soon as we can.Once we could earn our own money,we could actually do something for them.
